Hitachi launched a new IoT company called Hitachi Vantara
Hitachi is taking the IoT seriously and launched a new IoT company at its flagship event, Hitachi NEXT, in Las Vegas. The new company, Hitachi Vantara, combines Hitachi’s IoT capabilities in one company. Vantara will unify the operations of Hitachi Data Systems (incl. cloud business), Hitachi Insight Group (incl. IoT platform Lumada) and Pentaho (data analytics company). This move creates a new, strong and unified player in the IoT space, with around 7,000 employees right from the beginning and the clear intention to further grow this number quickly through new recruitments and acquisitions. The message to the market is clear - Hitachi Vantara, with headquarters in the Silicon Valley, will directly compete with big IoT players like GE Digital or IBM Watson IoT.
